THIS SEASON: A 2000-2001 senior, Steven Brende will continue to add depth to the Trojans' freestyle corps and will look to be a point-scorer at the conference level.
1999-2000: As a 2000-2001 first-year junior, Brende competed in three events at the 2000 Pacific-10 Conference Championships. He took 23rd in the 200y free (1:41.73), 25th in the 50y free (21.04) and 26th in the 100y free (46.07).
CLAREMONT McKENNA: Brende competed at Claremont McKenna as a swimmer and a water polo player as a freshman and a sophomore in 1997 and 1998. He was an All-American in the 50y and 100y freestyle and an NCAA finalist those events. In was a utility player on the water polo teams. He also played on the U.S. Junior National team in water polo the summer before college in 1997.
HIGH SCHOOL: Brende prepped at Harvard-Westlake High in Sherman Oaks, Calif., where he was an All-American in the 50y free and also earned All-American honors in water polo. He was the Mission League champion in the 50y free and earned Academic All-American honors in both of his sports.
PERSONAL: Brende is a business administration major. He was born on Sept. 30, 1979.
