THIS SEASON: A talented distance freestyler and butterflyer, 2012 senior Julian Bonse is USC's top returning miler who has improved each year and will try to make his first NCAAs in his final year on the team.

2011: Bonse raced in three events as a 2011 junior, finishing a career-best 15th in the 500y free (4:28.82), 10th in the 1650y free (15:30.14) and 20th in the 400y IM (4:04.95).

2010: Bonse, as a 2010 sophomore, finished 11th in the 1650y free (15:31.81) at the 2010 Pac-10 Championships. He was 16th in the 200y free (1:39.74) and 18th in the 500y free (4:25.99).

2009: As a 2009 freshman, Bonse finished ninth in the 1650y free (15:25.07) at the 2009 Pac-10 Championships and was also 16th in the 500y free (4:26.81) and 31st in the 200y free (1:40.06).

HIGH SCHOOL: Bonse, who prepped at Huntington Beach (Calif.) High, competed at the 2007 U.S. Junior National Championships in the 200m, 400m free and 800m free and the 200m fly ... His team's MVP his final three years in school, Bonse was All-Seaview and All-CIF as a junior and senior.

CLUB: Irvine Novaquatics, Golden West Swim Club.
