THIS SEASON: A versatile swimmer 2012 sophomore Chase Bloch established himself as a key performer as a freshman and looks to build on his NCAA Championships debut last season. He is the sixth-fastest Trojan ever in the 100y fly.
2011: Bloch raced in three events at the 2011 NCAA Championships as a freshman, taking 33rd in the 200y fly (1:47.68), 35th in the 100y fly (47.50) and swam on Troy's 12th-place 200y medley relay (1:26.61) ... At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, Bloch was ninth in the 200y fly (1:46.74), 12th in the 100y fly (47.32) and 17th in the 100y back (48.54) ... He competed in the 2011 U.S. Nationals, where he was 4th in the `C' final of the 200m back. He was also 39th in the 100m fly.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bloch prepped at Oaks Christian High in Westlake, Calif., where he was the 2010 L.A. Daily News Male Athlete of the Year and the 2009 and 2010 L.A. Daily News and Ventura County Star Swimmer of the Year. As a 2010 senior, Bloch was the NISCA High School national champion in the 100y fly. He won 2010 Southern Section CIF Division II titles in the 100y fly and 100y back. His 100y fly time of 47.55 was the second-fastest in state history and his 48.80 that won the 100y back was a division record ... As a 2009 junior, his 100y fly time broke the 2000 division record (48.42) held by Olympic silver medalist Michael Cavic. The time was seventh fastest in the country that year. He was also second in the 200y free. Bloch, who won 2007 and 2009 CIF Division III titles in the 500y free, was a 2009 Speedo Junior National Championships finalist in the 100y fly and was second in the B final of the 100y back and also competed at the 2009 U.S. World Championship Trials. He was a member of the 2010 U.S. Junior Team that competed in Vancouver ... He was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
