    Trojans, led by speedster Vladimir Morozov, aiming for top 5 finish.

    Chase Bloch, a 2013 All-American and a 2014 co-captain who was also a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree, is in his first season as an assistant coach for the USC swim team.

    Swim career bio

    2014: Bloch was a co-captain as a 2014 senior and was a Pac-12 finalist in the 200y back. He was also a 2014 Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention pick who graduated with a degree in communications. In addition to taking sixth in the final of the 200y back at the Pac-12s, he was ninth in the 100y fly and 11th in the 100y back.

    2013: Bloch nabbed his first career All-American honor as a 2013 junior as part of USC's 200y medley relay that finished fifth at the 2013 NCAA Championships in a school record 1:24.54 ... Bloch became a conference finalist for the first time at the 2013 Pac-12s, touching seventh in the 200y back (1:43.73). He was also 10th in the 100y back (48.04) and 12th in the 100y fly (47.58) ... At the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, he was fifth in the 100y fly (46.86) and 10th in the 200y back (1:43.45) ... At the 2013 U.S. Summer Nationals, he was fourth in the `B' final of the 50m back (25.77), fifth in the `B' final of the 100m back (55.63) and eighth in the `B' final of the 200m back (2:02.43).

    2012: Bloch raced in four events at the 2012 NCAA Championships as a sophomore. He helped USC to a pair of consolation final swims in the 200y and 400y medley relay (swimming the fly in both races) and also was 29th in the 100y back (48.10) and 31st in the 100y fly (47.56) ... At the 2012 Pac-12 Championships, he was 10th in the 100y fly (57.68) and 200y back (1:44.00) and 11th in the 100y back (48.16) ... Bloch raced in three events at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing 24th in the 200m back (2:02.30), 32nd in the 100m back (56.47) and tied for 42nd in the 100m fly (54.41) ... He was named to the 2012 Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention team.

    2011: Bloch raced in three events at the 2011 NCAA Championships as a freshman, taking 33rd in the 200y fly (1:47.68), 35th in the 100y fly (47.50) and swam on Troy's 12th-place 200y medley relay (1:26.61) ... At the 2011 Pac-10 Championships, Bloch was ninth in the 200y fly (1:46.74), 12th in the 100y fly (47.32) and 17th in the 100y back (48.54) ... He competed in the 2011 U.S. Nationals, where he was 4th in the `C' final of the 200m back. He was also 39th in the 100m fly.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Bloch prepped at Oaks Christian High in Westlake, Calif., where he was the 2010 L.A. Daily News Male Athlete of the Year and the 2009 and 2010 L.A. Daily News and Ventura County Star Swimmer of the Year. As a 2010 senior, Bloch was the NISCA High School national champion in the 100y fly. He won 2010 Southern Section CIF Division II titles in the 100y fly and 100y back. His 100y fly time of 47.55 was the second-fastest in state history and his 48.80 that won the 100y back was a division record ... As a 2009 junior, his 100y fly time broke the 2000 division record (48.42) held by Olympic silver medalist Michael Cavic. The time was seventh fastest in the country that year. He was also second in the 200y free. Bloch, who won 2007 and 2009 CIF Division III titles in the 500y free, was a 2009 Speedo Junior National Championships finalist in the 100y fly and was second in the B final of the 100y back and also competed at the 2009 U.S. World Championship Trials. He was a member of the 2010 U.S. Junior Team that competed in Vancouver ... He was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
