THIS SEASON: 2002 sophomore John Abercrombie, who had a great summer, will look to be a continuing contributor for the Trojans in the fly and IM, particularly in the 100y fly.
2001: Abercrombie mainly provided depth for the Trojans as a 2001 freshman, but came on after the athletic season … He finalled in the 100m fly at both the 2001 U.S. Spring and Summer Nationals, taking eighth in both races.
HIGH SCHOOL: Abercrombie was a prep All-American at Robert Louis Stevenson High in Monterey and was his swim team’s MVP all four years in school … He was also his school’s male athlete of the year as a senior in 2000 ... Abercrombie competed at the U.S. Junior Nationals from 1998-2000 and won the 100m fly in 2000, posting an Olympic Trials qualifying time ... At the trials, he finished 50th in the 100m fly.
PERSONAL: His birthday is May 2, 1982.
