THIS YEAR: Vince Williams came to USC last season as one of the top junior college sprinters in the nation and quickly became a vital member of both of the Trojans' nationally ranked relay teams, but suffered an injury at the UCLA dual meet that limited his effectiveness for the Trojans at the end of the season. Williams is now healthy and will give USC an added boost in the sprints and relays.
1999: Ran a 21.14 to finish third in the 200m at the North Carolina Invitational ... Ran a 10.51 to win the 100m at the Mt. SAC Relays.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: At Mesa Community College in San Diego, Vince won the 1997 conference championship in both the 100m and 200m ... Was a teammate of current USC hurdler Felix Sanchez at Mesa C.C.
HIGH SCHOOL: At University City High in San Diego, Calif., Vince won the 1996 CIF San Diego Section 100m (10.56) and 200m (21.19) titles ... Finished second in the 100m (10.47) and third in the 200m (21.21) at the 1996 Junior Nationals ... Was a three-time All-CIF and All-State selection (1994, 95, 96) ... Earned Prep All-American honors twice (1995, 96) ... Teamed with current USC teammate Jerome Davis and two others to win the 400m relay at the 1996 World Junior Championships in 39.36, which was the fastest junior time in the world that year.
PERSONAL: Vince was born on July 8, 1977 ... He is an undeclared major at USC.
