    THIS YEAR: Team captain Felix Sanchez is perhaps the nation's top collegiate 400m intermediate hurdler and an outstanding member of the 1,600m relay.

    SUMMER: Sanchez consistently lowered his times all summer and ran a PR 48.60 at the Pan-Am games, which was 18th in the world in 1999 and second on USC's all-time list.

    1999: Sanchez made a huge impact for USC in 1999 ... Ran a Cromwell Field record 49.49 to win the 400m IH at the USC-UCLA dual meet ... Appeared on the cover of Track and Field News running a leg of the relay at the Texas Relays ... Won the Pac-10s in 50.00.

    1998: Redshirted.

    JUNIOR COLLEGE: At Mesa Community College in San Diego, Felix was the 1996 and 1997 J.C. champion in the 400m IH ... Placed 15th at the U.S. Outdoors and 19th in the U.S. rankings.

    HIGH SCHOOL: At University City High in San Diego, Felix won the 1995 San Diego Section 300m IH title ... Earned USA Today All-USA and Track & Field News All-American honors in 1995.
