Nov. 16, 2012
Highly accomplished prep golfers Rico Hoey from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Danny Ochoa and Khaled Attieh from San Diego have signed national letters of intent with USC, Men's Golf Coach Chris Zambri announced Friday (Nov. 16).
"The 2013 recruiting class adds talent and depth to the roster," Zambri said. "All three are going to be great assets to the program."
Hoey, who attends Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High, is off to a great 2012 with a win at the 2012 Callaway Junior World Championship and the Junior Americas Cup. Hoey, who also finished seventh at the 2012 California State Open, is the No. 14 overall recruit in the class of 2012.
Ochoa, from Torrey Pines High in San Diego, was named the 2012 San Diego Junior Boys Golfer of the Year. He finished third at the 2012 Golfweek West Coast Junior Invitational, won the 2011 California State High School Championships and the FCG Callaway Season Championships and tied for fifth in the 2010 Callaway Junior Worlds.
Attieh attends La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day but was born in Saudi Arabia, and has qualified for two of the past three U.S. Junior Championships and advanced to match play. He played in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in 2011.
