Jonah Texeira, a talented Southern California junior golfer with a strong resume of recent success, has signed a national letter of intent with USC men's golf, head coach Chris Zambri announced today.
"Jonah is a very athletic player with a beautiful and powerful golf swing," Zambri said. "We are counting the days until Jonah walks on to campus and dons the Cardinal and Gold."
Texeira, who preps at Granada Hills (Calif.) Charter High, had early success in the San Diego Junior Golf Association and has represented San Diego in the competitive "The Junior America's Cup," where he won the individual portion of the event twice, in 2011 and 2013.
Texeira recently played as an amateur in the professional Southern California Open, where, he held a share of the lead on the back nine during the final round and eventually tied for eighth. He was also 12th at the Callaway Junior World Championship in July and fifth at the Western Junior in June. In 2012, he produced three top 10 finishes, including a win at the Future Champions Tour - San Diego Junior Masters (boys 15-18).
