USC looking for first win of young season.

The No. 2 USC men's golf team, which finished third at the 2008 NCAA Championships, continues its 2008-2009 fall slate at the UCLA-hosted 2008 CordeValle Collegiate at the CordeValle C.C. in San Martina, Calif., Monday through Wednesday (Nov. 3-5).
The par-72, 7,169-yard course will handle a field of the host-Bruins, Arkansas, Arizona, Augusta State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Lamar, Northwestern, Santa Clara, Stanford, USC and Washington.
Unlike most events in which each school features five players with four scoring, the CordeValle is best five out of six.

Junior Jamie Lovemark
Lovemark is a two-time All-American first teamer who won the 2007 NCAA individual championship and a slew of awards including 2007 Player of the Year. He is coming off a 2008 sophomore season in which he finished in the top 16 in all but one tournament. He tied for team high with seven top 10 finishes (all in the top 8). He had eight rounds in the 60s, including a season-best 65 at the UH Hilo Invitational ... Lovemark has tied for 10th in USC's first two 2008-09 events.
Senior Tom Glissmeyer
Glissmeyer, a 2008 All-American honorable mention pick, posted six top 16 finishes as a 2008 junior and posted three consecutive top six finishes late in the year, including tying for sixth at both the Pac-10 and NCAA Regional Championships ... In his first event of the 2008-09 season, he tied for 24th at the Fall Preview. He tied for 67th at the Isleworth.
Sophomore Tim Sluiter
Sophomore Matt Giles
Sluiter, a 2008 All-American honorable mention pick, had seven top 14 finishes and four in the top 10 as a 2008 freshman, including a tie for ninth at the 2008 NCAA Championships (where he was USC's top finisher). He also won the individual title at the 2008 USC Collegiate Invitational ... Sluiter tied for 10th in USC's opening event at the Fall Preview and matched his USC low with a final round 67. He was 75th at the Isleworth.
Giles, a 2008 All-American honorable mention selection, had two top 11 finishes as a freshman and six in the top 27. At the Isleworth, his first event as a sophomore, he led USC with a fourth-place finish, including a second-round 69.
Senior Ryan Linton
Linton, who played in two events as a junior, will exceed that total in USC's third event of his senior year. His best finish last year was a tie for 20th at the USC Collegiate Invitational. He tied for 49th in USC's 2008-09 opener and tied for 64th at the Isleworth.
Sophomore Bo DeHuff
DeHuff played in three events as a 2008 redshirt freshman, tying for 50th twice for season-best finishes. In his first event as a 2009 sophomore, DeHuff tied for 62nd at the Fall Preview.
2008 Ping/Golfweek Fall Preview
Tim Sluiter fired a 4-under 67 and finished tied for 10th with junior teammate Jamie Lovemark as the No. 2 USC men's golf team finished fourth at the highly competitive 2008 Ping/Golfweek Fall Preview at the Inverness C.C. in Toledo, Ohio, on Sept. 30.
USC finished with a combined 15-over 867 (286-291-290). Oklahoma State (843) took first and was followed by Tennessee (859), Georgia (861), USC and Alabama (868).
Sluiter (76-70-67) and Lovemark (66-76-71) tied for 10th at even 213. Sluiter's 67 featured four birdies without a bogey as he tied his low round as a Trojan. He did it twice as a freshman last season. Lovemark also had four birdies on the day. USC extended its streak of finishing in the top four to 12 consecutive tournaments.
2008 Ping/Golfweek Fall Preview
Matt Giles finished fourth and Jamie Lovemark tied for 10th to lead the No. 2 USC men's golf team on the final day of the 2008 Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 26-28) at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Fla. USC finished fifth at 30-over 894 (290-289-315). Giles, in his first event of the season, posted his second-best finish as a Trojan, finishing fourth at 1-under 215 (72-69-74). He had three birdies on the day, finishing as the top Trojan during a round marred by inclement weather. Lovemark tied for 10th at 2-over 218 (75-68-75). He posted his second eagle in as many days on the par 5 7th hole and also birdied the 10 hole.
