Former USC All-American Jamie Lovemark finished in a tie for second place after a playoff at the Frys.com Open at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., over the weekend.

Lovemark earned $440,000 by finishing in a tie for second place. He will now go to Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, N.C., to compete in the first stage of q-school to try to earn a PGA Tour membership card for 2010.

Lovemark posted a final round of 6-under-par 64 at Grayhawk. He was 1-under-par on the front nine before carding five birdies on the back nine, including one on the final hole, to tie Rickie Fowler. Leader Troy Matteson bogeyed his final two holes to fall into a three-way playoff.

On the first playoff hole, Lovemark was able to make par to remain alive despite having his approach shot bounce in-and-out of a man-made lagoon.

On the second playoff hole, all three competitors found the fairway, but Matteson was able secure the victory with an approach shot that stopped two feet from the hole.

At USC, Lovemark was a two-time All-American. In 2007, he won the NCAA individual title, the Jack Nicklaus Award as the national player of the year, and the Phil Mickelson Award as the nation's outstanding freshman. He was also the Pac-10 Co-Golfer and Freshman of the Year.
