    Junior Jeffrey Kang and senior Sam Smith were each 2-under in their final rounds to help lead the No. 4 USC men's golf team to a third-place finish at the 2012 Pac-12 Preview at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club's Witch Hollow course in North Plains, Ore., on Tuesday (Oct. 9).

    USC finished the two-day, 54-hole event at 21-under 843 (283-278-282), eight strokes back of first-place California (835) and one behind second-place Washington (842) and 12 better than fourth-place UCLA (855).

    Freshman Yi Keun Chang made his Trojan debut in resounding fashion, leading USC with a fifth-place finish at 7-under 209 (69-67-73). He battled for the lead during the final day of play, ultimately finishing four strokes out of first. He had three birdies and five bogeys during his final round.

    Kang tied for eighth at 5-under 211 (70-71-70). He started his final round at 2-over through three holes, but settled down and a 4-under back 9 helped him to 2-under for the day.

    Sophomore Anthony Paolucci tied for 20th at 2-under 214 (72-72-70). He bogeyed 5 Tuesday but finished the rest of the round at 3-under. His ace yesterday in the first round on a par 3 was his first as a Trojan.

    Junior Ramsey Sahyoun tied for 26th at 2-over 218 (72-68-78). He had two birdies during his final round.

    Smith rebounded from a 6-over first round to go 3-under over the final 36 holes and tied for 29th at 3-over 219 (78-72-69). His final round included four birdies and an eagle on the par 5 14th hole, the sixth eagle the Trojans bagged during the event.

    USC returns to action Oct. 19-21 at the U.S. Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, Ga.
