Hoey, Cheng 71s Lead No. 2 USC At Olympia Fields Second Round|

Senior Rico Hoey and Cheng Jin turned in 1-over 71s while junior Sean Crocker remained in the top 10 to lead the No. 2 USC men's golf team after two rounds at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite on Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Olympia Fields C.C. North Course in Chicago.
The Trojans moved into sixth place at a combined 24-over 584 (296-288). Host Illinois (6-under 554) remains in first with a commanding 21-stroke lead over second-place Texas A&M (15-over 575).
Crocker is tied for 10th at 2-over 142 (69-73), six back, after his 3-over second round. Crocker was 3-over through his front 9 (starting on 10) and closed with an even 9, including four birdies.
Jin (76-71) and Hoey (76-71) are tied for 30th at 7-over 147 after identical first and second rounds. Jin turned in two birdies today (on 10 and 15), as did Hoey (on 7 and 17).
Junior Jonah Texeira is tied for 36th at 8-over 148 (75-73) and also had two birdies today, on 2 and 17. Senior Andrew Levitt, another Trojan with two birdies in the second round, is tied for 56th at 12-over 152 (78-74).
USC will begin its final round with North Carolina and Florida State with an 8 a.m. CT starting time.
