Men's Golf Finishes 18th At NCAA West Regional

Albuquerque, N.M. - The No. 7 USC men's golf team shot 298 on Saturday to finish 18th at the NCAA West Regional Championships held on The Championship Course.

The top 10 teams from the regional move on to the NCAA Championships. For the second year in a row, the Trojans were unable to advance past the regional.

USC shot 895 (31 over par) and finished 13 strokes out of 10th place. New Mexico and Washington tied for first with 872. UNLV was third (874), Minnesota was fourth (875) and Pepperdine was fifth (877).

Senior Kevin Stadler tied for 34th (221) to lead the Trojans, while junior Chris Botsford tied for 60th (224), junior David Oh tied for 72nd (226), freshman Ben Hayes tied for 90th (228) and sophomore Scott Oxandaboure tied for 107th (231).

Ricky Barnes of Arizona and Justin Smith of Minnesota tied for the top spot with a score of 210.

The two-time defending Pac-10 champion Trojans will return five of their top six golfers to next year's squad.
