    Junior Eric Sugimoto fired a 1-under 70 while fellow juniors Anthony Paolucci and Paul Smith carded 71s to lead the No. 22 USC men's golf team on the second day of the Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., on Tuesday (Feb. 18).

    The Trojans are tied for seventh at a combined 6-over 574 (288-286). Stanford continues to lead at 19-under 549 while Washington is in second at 5-under 563.

    Paolucci is tied for ninth at 2-under 140 (69-71) after his second straight steady round. He was 1-over on the front 9 and 1-under coming home. He is after his fourth straight top 10 finish.

    Sugimoto, in his second event as a starter for the Trojans, is tied for 24th at 1-over 143 (73-70). He was 1-over going out and 2-under on the back 9 with four birdies on the day. Smith, in his first spring start, is tied for 31st at 2-over 144 (73-71) and mixed three birdies against three bogeys on the day.

    Freshman Rico Hoey is tied for 47th at 6-over 148 (73-75) while senior Jeffrey Kang is tied for 54th at 8-over 150 (76-74).

    Senior Ramsey Sahyoun, playing individually, is tied for 57th at 9-over 151 (83-68). His second round was a season best and his lowest round since last year, when he did it three times, most recently at the same event. His career best as a Trojan is a 66 at the Gifford Collegiate set during his sophomore year.
