    Smith, Paolucci Lead USC To Open Amer Ari Invitational

    Senior Sam Smith and junior Anthony Paolucci each carded 72s to lead the No. 3 USC men's golf team during the first round of the Amer Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa (Hawaii) Kings' Course on Wednesday (Feb. 6).

    USC is tied for 12th at 3-over 291, 14 back of TCU and UCLA, who are tied atop the leaderboard at 11-under 277.

    Paolucci and Smith are tied for 39th with their pair of 72s while junior Jeffrey Kang is tied for 51st at 1-over 73. Freshman Yi Keun Chang is tied for 67th at 2-over 74 while junior Ramsey Sahyoun is tied for 96th at 5-over 77.

    Smith had the steadiest day, mixing a pair of birdies and two bogeys during his even round. Paolucci opened at 2-over through nine before finishing the back 9 at 2-under.

    The event continues Thursday and Friday with action beginning at 7:30 a.m. (HST) tomorrow.
