Tucson, Ariz. - No. 16 USC men's golf carded an eight-under-par total to take the first round lead Monday (Jan. 29) at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate held at The Raven at Sabino Springs in Tucson, Ariz. Darkness suspended the second round and a total of 21 holes will be played on Tuesday to compensate.
Four Trojan golfers posted scores of par or better as the squad totaled a team score of 276 (-8) to lead the 20-team field by seven strokes. Ohio State is in second place at 283 (-1), Arizona State and California (286) are tied for third, while South Carolina and Oregon (290) are tied for fifth.
Junior Kevin Stadler tied his season-low with a round of 67, while senior Alex Kuyumjian made his season-debut with a round of 68 to tie for fifth. Freshman Hunter Mahan (70), senior Nick Jones (71) and sophomore David Oh (78), were tied for 10th, 13th and 78th, respectively.
The PING-Arizona resumes on Tuesday (Jan. 30) with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
