THIS SEASON Anthony Paolucci of Rancho Sante Fe, Calif., the No. 1 junior in the country while in high school and the top recruit in the 2011 class, is a 2012 Trojan freshman who will bolster USC's lineup immediately.
HIGH SCHOOL The 2010 Rolex Junior Player of the Year who prepped at La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day, Paolucci earned a sponsor's exemption into the 2011 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines (a virtual home event for him) and fired a 3-under to make the 36-hole cut and finished the event in the top 30. He earned an exemption for the 2011 FedEx St. Jude Classic, though he missed the cut. He also played at the 2011 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, S.C., competing against a field of the top amateurs in the world. He took 14th ... He won both the 2010 Thunderbird International Junior (at 12-under) and the 2010 Rolex Tournament of Champions (where he was the only player under par). He also was in the top 5 in four other tournaments, including a second at the FootJoy Invitational and a tie for fifth at the U.S. Junior Championship, enabling him to finish the 2010 season as No. 1 in the Polo Golf Rankings ... Also in 2010, he made the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Amateur and he was second at the Junior PGA Championship. He was third in the event in 2009. In 2007, he was runner-up at the U.S. Junior Amateur when he was 14 ... Paolucci was an AJGA All-American from 2007-2010, was a member of the victorious 2010 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team and also represented the U.S. at The Duke of York Young Champions Trophy.
