USC Football Signs Two High School Players

LOS ANGELES--Two talented high school football players¬-linebacker Scott Starr of Norco (Calif.) High and offensive tackle Chad Wheeler of Santa Monica (Calif.) High¬-have signed with USC, head coach Lane Kiffin announced today (Dec. 21).
Both Starr and Wheeler will graduate from high school a semester early in order to enroll at USC in January as freshmen and participate in 2012 spring practice.
The 6-3, 230-pound Starr had 96 tackles, including 5.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery as a 2011 senior. He made the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Underclass second team as a 2010 junior while getting 114 tackles (with 3 sacks) and a forced fumble.
The 6-6, 265-pound Wheeler, who played both offensive tackle and defensive end at Santa Monica, missed part of his 2011 senior year with a shoulder injury. He made 38 tackles (with 5 sacks) and 2 deflections on defense as a 2010 junior.
Earlier today, USC announced the signing of a pair of junior college players who will enroll in January: Gerald Bowman, a 6-1, 215-pound safety from Los Angeles Pierce Junior College in Woodland Hills (Calif.), and Morgan Breslin, a 6-3, 245-pound defensive end from Diablo Valley Junior College in Pleasant Hill (Calif.).
