19 Trojans Make All-Pac-12 Football Teams

    Marqise Lee

    Nov. 26, 2012

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee has been named the 2012 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and he joined center Khaled Holmes on the All-Pac-12 first team, while defensive tackle Leonard Williams was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Lee was the only unanimous pick on the All-Pac-12 first team, which is selected by the league's head coaches, and he also made the All-Pac-12 second team as a return specialist. The Biletnikoff Award finalist set Pac-12 season records in 2012 for receptions (112) and receiving yards (1,680). He currently leads the Pac-12 in receptions, receiving yards, all-purpose yards and kickoff returns. He has scored 15 touchdowns in 2012, including 14 on receptions.

Holmes is one of only 2 players (along with UCLA punter Jeff Locke) to make both the All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Academic first teams. He is starting for his third season in 2012.

Williams, a first-year freshman, has 13 tackles for a loss, including 7.5 sacks, among his 50 tackles this season.

Four Trojans made the All-Pac-12 second team: wide receiver Robert Woods, defensive end Morgan Breslin, safety T.J. McDonald and cornerback Nickell Robey.

Joining Williams among the 13 Trojans picked as All-Pac-12 honorable mention selections were linebacker Dion Bailey, quarterback Matt Barkley, linebacker Tony Burnett (as a special teams player), tight end Xavier Grimble, placekicker Andre Heidari, defensive end Wes Horton, offensive guard John Martinez, punter Kyle Negrete, linebacker Hayes Pullard, tailback Silas Redd, offensive tackle Max Tuerk and defensive tackle George Uko.

This is the 11th time a Trojan has won conference Offensive Player of the Year honors and the first since Reggie Bush in 2005. The others with Lee : tailbacks Ricky Bell (1976), Charles White (1978 and 1979), Marcus Allen (1981) and Bush (2004 Co and 2005), wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson (1995) and quarterbacks Rodney Peete (1988), Carson Palmer (2002 Co) and Matt Leinart (2004 and 2005 Co).

This is the third consecutive year that USC has had a league Freshman of the Year. Last year, Lee and Bailey won offensive and defensive honors, respectively (Lee shared the award with Oregon's DeAnthony Thomas), while Woods was the offensive honoree in 2010. Other Trojans to win conference Freshman of the Year notice are wide receivers Kareem Kelly (1999) and Mike Williams (2002) and safety Taylor Mays (2006).

    Only 6 of USC's 19 All-Pac-12 selections in 2012 are seniors.
