    Kalil, Heidari Named Semifinalists For Lombardi, Groza Awards

    USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil was named one of 12 semifinalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award and placekicker Andre Heidari was named one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza National Placekicker Award.

    The Lombardi Award is presented to the collegiate lineman of the year. It will be presented on Dec. 7, 2011, at the Reliant Center in Houston, Tex. Brad Budde is USC's only Lombardi Award winner, in 1979.

    Joining Kalil on the list of 2011 Lombardi semifinalists are: Vinny Curry (defensive end, Marshall), David DeCastro (offensive guard, Stanford), Dont'a Hightower (linebacker, Alabama), Melvin Ingram (defensive end, South Carolina), Barrett Jones (offensive line, Alabama), Luke Kuechly (linebacker, Boston College), Jonathan Martin (offensive tackle, Stanford), Whitney Mercilus (defensive line, Illinois), Manti Te'o (linebacker, Notre Dame), Courtney Upshaw (linebacker, Alabama) and Jerel Worthy (defensive tackle, Michigan State).

    The Groza Award will be presented on Dec. 6 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
