USC senior defensive tackle Fili Moala was named Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against Arizona State.
Moala blocked a pair of field goal attempts in the third quarter of USC's 28-0 win against the Sun Devils. The 2 blocks tied an NCAA record for most blocked field goal attempts in a quarter.
Moala also had 3 tackles and a fumble recovery in the game while starting at defensive tackle.
Also honored as Pac-10 Players of the Week were Stanford running back Toby Gerhart (offense) and Oregon cornerback Jairus Byrd.
This is the fifth time a Trojan has won Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in 2008, with quarterback Mark Sanchez winning 3 times (following the Virginia, Ohio State and Oregon games) and linebacker Rey Maualuga once (for the Ohio State game).
