Women's Tennis: Junior Kaitlyn Christian and sophomore Sabrina Santamaria captured their third major doubles championship in the past year this weekend, as they won the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships doubles title in three sets. The duo defeated Duke's No. 19-ranked team of Capra/Mar in a 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 three-set victory at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. After a bye in the first round, Christian/Santamaria defeated No. 14-ranked Narattana/Rose of Oklahoma State, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinals, where they took care of Illinois' Kopinski/White, 8-4. The duo faced crosstown rivals No. 4 Anderson/Morton in the semifinals, taking a two-set victory, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the finals against No. 19 Capra/Mar of Duke. In the finals, Christian/Santamaria took the first set 6-2, dropped the second set 6-7(6), but came back to take the match in a 6-3 third-set victory. This major title joins their 2011 ITA National Indoor Doubles Championship and the 2012 Pac-12 Doubles title.
Football: Sophomore receiver Marqise Lee led the Trojans with a season-high 12 receptions for 192 yards, including a career-long 83-yard touchdown grab to help lead USC over Utah, 38-28, on Thursday night. After the Trojans were held scoreless in the third quarter, Lee broke the drought with the record-setting touchdown grab with 12:10 left in the fourth quarter to put the Trojans up, 31-21. Lee has now caught at least eight passes in each of the last nine games and ranks in top four nationally in receptions, receiving yards, and all-purpose running.
