USC Football To Host Fresno State In 2014|
Sept. 24, 2012
USC will host Fresno State in football in 2014, USC Charles Griffin Cale Director of Athletics' Chair Pat Haden announced today.
The game will be played on Aug. 30, 2014, in the Coliseum.
"We are excited to add Fresno State to our 2014 schedule," said USC head coach Lane Kiffin, who was a quarterback for the Bulldogs from 1994 to 1996 and then served as a student assistant coach there. "It is a quality in-state opponent with a traditionally strong program. The games between the teams in the past have been very competitive and have attracted lots of fans from both sides."
The teams have played just twice in history and both were memorable contests.
In a 2005 shootout in the sold-out Coliseum, top-ranked USC fought back from a fourth quarter deficit to defeat No. 16 Fresno State, 50-42, as Trojan tailback Reggie Bush had a league-record 513 all-purpose yards.
In the first meeting, unranked underdog Fresno State stunned No. 23 USC, 24-7, in the 1992 Freedom Bowl in Anaheim.
USC's other 2014 non-conference opponents are Notre Dame and Boston College.
