USC Football To Air On KMPC Radio, Five Other Local Stations, Plus In Spanish
Aug. 28, 2002
All USC football games once again will air live on KMPC-AM (1540) radio.
Five other Southern California stations also will carry the games live on the USC radio network: KPLS-AM 830 in Orange, XEMM-AM 800 in San Diego, KXPS-AM 1010 in Palm Springs, KGEO-AM 1230 in Bakersfield and KVEN-AM 1540 in Ventura.
Pete Arbogast returns as the play-by-play announcer, with former Trojan All-American and NFL quarterback Paul McDonald again handling the color. Petros Papadakis, the colorful former USC running back, will be the sideline reporter and handle post-game lockerroom interviews, replacing ex-Trojan defensive lineman Tim Ryan, who has been hired by FOX-TV to provide analysis on NFL game broadcasts.
Papadakis will work with two newcomers on USC's one-hour pre-game and two-hour post-game shows: Troy's 1989 Thorpe Award-winning safety Mark Carrier and ex-USC linebacker Jeff Kopp, both who played in the NFL.
A Spanish-language broadcast of all USC games can be heard locally on XPRS-AM (1090), with Jorge Villanueva, Efren Dominguez, Victor Duarte mikeside.
Fans also can hear the live KMPC broadcast on the Internet as a "cybercast" on www.usctrojans.com.
USC's opens its season this Monday (Sept. 2) against Auburn in the Coliseum. Kickoff is at 5 p.m., with the KMPC radio broadcast coming on at 4 p.m.
