Freshman wide receiver De'Von Flournoy turned a short pass into a zigzagging 53-yard touchdown to highlight an 89-play USC football scrimmage in front of 2,000 fans under the lights at the Coliseum on Monday (Aug. 17).
There were also a pair of long scoring runbacks against the scout team, as junior wide receiver Ronald Johnson returned a kickoff 99 yards and junior tailback Joe McKnight brought back a punt 78 yards.
Flournoy, who had 3 catches for 105 yards overall, caught his scoring pass from junior quarterback Mitch Mustain, who completed 10-of-16 passes for 108 yards while running the second team.

Freshman quarterback Matt Barkley ran the first team offense while sophomore quarterback Aaron Corp is still out with a leg injury, but he had a tough night against USC's first team defense. Barkley was just 5-of-18 passing for 109 yards.
McKnight led the rushers with 77 yards on 6 carries, while junior tailback Allen Bradford added 51 yards on 7 tries.
USC's other scores came on a 1-yard run by senior tailback Stafon Johnson and a 34-yard field goal by junior placekicker Joe Houston.
Senior safety Taylor Mays led the defense with 6 tackles, followed by senior linebacker Nick Garratt's 5 stops. Sophomore defensive tackle Jurrell Casey recovered a fumble.
All-Pac-10 junior center Kristofer O'Dowd dislocated his right kneecap, an injury that happened to him once before in 2007 and knocked him out of 4 games.
"Our defense played well and they really did well defending the pass," said ninth-year USC head coach Pete Carroll. "They made it hard on Barkley all night, although he settled down a bit as the game went on."
Seven-time defending Pac-10 champion USC opens its 2009 season on Sept. 5 when it hosts San Jose State.
