Rhett Ellison Chosen In Fourth Round By Vikings|
April 28, 2012
USC fullback-tight end Rhett Ellison was a fourth round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings today (April 28) on the final day of the NFL Draft.
He becomes the 476th Trojan NFL draftee, more than any school.
In Minnesota, Ellison will join USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil, the Vikings' first round pick on Thursday (April 26).
Ellison earned All-Pac-12 first team honors last fall as a special teams player. He had 53 career catches (22 in 2011) while playing both tight end and then fullback.
Ellison's father, former USC linebacker Riki (Gray) Ellison, was a fifth round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1983 NFL Draft. Riki was his draft's 117th overall pick, while Rhett was the 128th.
Kalil and defensive end Nick Perry (by the Packers) were USC's first round picks on Thursday.
