Wide receiver Marqise Lee caught 3 touchdowns and fellow wideout Nelson Agholor added 2 TD catches to help the Cardinal (offense) defeat the White (defense), 42-36, in USC's Spring Football Game on Saturday (April 13) before 15,284 fans in the Coliseum.

The game concluded 15 days of spring practice for the Trojans, who were without 20 players sitting out the game because of injuries.

The defense was awarded 3 points for a defensive stop, such as forcing a punt or getting the offense to turn the ball over on downs, and 5 points for a forced turnover.

All 6 offensive touchdowns came on passes from the trio of young quarterbacks looking to replace Matt Barkley. Three TDs were from sophomore Cody Kessler, 2 from soph Max Wittek and 1 from freshman Max Browne, a mid-year enrollee. Kessler completed 15-of-22 passes for 242 yards, Wittek was 12-of-17 for 145 yards but threw 2 interceptions and Browne was 7-of-11 for 80 yards with a pick.

Lee, the 2012 Biletnikoff Award winner, hauled in a 70-yard touchdown early in the game on Kessler's first aerial of the day. He also caught a 5-yard score from Kessler and added a 30-yard TD from Wittek. Agholor caught a 44-yard touchdown from Browne and a 1-yarder from Kessler. Wide receiver Victor Blackwell caught the game's other TD, a 29-yarder from Wittek. Overall, Lee had 8 receptions for 148 yards, while Agholor (106 yards) and Blackwell (155 yards) each had 7 catches.

Tailback Tre Madden was the leading rusher with 23 yards on 8 carries.

Safety Demetrius Wright had 2 interceptions, both on Wittek throws. The defense posted 10 sacks, including 3.5 by 2012 Hendricks Award finalist end Morgan Breslin. Tackle Leonard Williams, a 2012 Freshman All-American, had 6 tackles, while safety Josh Shaw, cornerback Kevon Seymour and tackle J.R. Tavai each added 5 stops.

USC, which returns 16 starters from its 2012 squad, opens its 2013 season at Hawaii on Aug. 29. For USC season tickets, go to GetTrojanTix.com.
