USC Football Coaches Clinic Set For April 9-10|
Feb. 5, 2010
The seventh annual USC Football/Nike Coach of the Year Southern California Coaches Clinic, offering expertise for football coaches on all levels from new USC head coach Lane Kiffin and his outstanding coaching staff, will be held April 9 and 10 at USC's Galen Center Pavilion (3400 So. Figueroa St.).
The clinic kicks off at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 9, with a talk by new USC strength and conditioning coach Aaron Ausmus and then a lecture on special teams play. After dinner, Kiffin will give an introductory talk, followed by roundtables, a film review and breakout sessions with the USC offensive and defensive coaches, including new hires Ed Orgeron, Monte Kiffin, Joe Barry, Willie Mack Garza and James Cregg. A coaches social hour concludes the day. Registration begins at 2 p.m. at the Galen Center.
On Saturday, April 10, lectures by prominent high school coaches will begin at 8 a.m., then clinic participants will attend USC's spring football practice on Howard Jones Field. Following lunch, the afternoon will feature speeches by head coaches Chip Kelly of Oregon and Tim Murphy of Harvard. A question-and-answer session concludes the clinic. Registration that day begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Galen Center.
Cost of the clinic is $165 for both days or $125 for one day (walk-up registration is an additional $10). Included in the cost is a meal on both days.
The clinic sold out the past six years, so attendees are encouraged to sign up soon. This year, the clinic is open not only to coaches, but to anyone interested in learning about the new USC coaching staff.
A special room rate ($99 single, $109 double) is available at the Radisson Hotel Midtown Los Angeles, across the street from the USC campus. Ask for the "Fight On" room block.
