2014: The often-used and productive Telfer, who has shared starts at tight end the past 3 years, figures to have an even more increased role as a senior in 2014. He was limited in 2014 spring practice following post-season arthroscopic surgery on his knee.
2013: Telfer was on the field often at tight end as a junior in 2013. Overall in 2013 while appearing in 11 games (he suffered a knee injury at Notre Dame and was sidelined for the next 3 games: Utah, Oregon State, California) and starting 8 times (Washington State, Boston College, Arizona State, Arizona, Notre Dame, Colorado, UCLA, Fresno State), he had 6 receptions for 78 yards (13.0 avg) with 1 TD and made 2 tackles. He won USC's Chris Carlisle Courage Award. He had 2 catches for 17 yards against Boston College, 2 catches for 40 yards against Arizona, a 10-yard TD catch at Colorado and an 11-yard reception against Fresno State. He had a tackle against both Arizona State and Arizona. He missed part of 2013 spring practice with a knee injury.
2012: Telfer again shared starts at tight end as a sophomore in 2012. Overall in 2012 while appearing in 12 games (all but Washington) and starting 9 of those games (all but Syracuse, Oregon, UCLA), he had 12 catches for 100 yards (8.3 avg.) with 4 TDs and blocked a field goal on special teams. He sprained his ankle at Utah and missed the Washington game. He won USC's Bob Chandler Award (athletics/academics/character).
He had an 11-yard TD catch against Hawaii, then had 4 catches for 20 yards at Stanford and 2 catches for 17 yards against California. He had a one-handed 23-yard TD pass and blocked a field goal at Utah to earn Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He had a 3-yard TD catch against Oregon and 3 catches for 26 yards (with a 2-yard TD) at UCLA.
2011: Telfer started 5 games (Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, UCLA), including the season's last 4 games, at tight end as a redshirt freshman in 2011. Overall in 2011 while appearing in all 12 games (he also played on special teams), he had 26 receptions (third on USC) for 273 yards (10.5 avg.) with 5 TDs, plus a 2-yard kickoff return, a tackle and a blocked field goal. His 26 catches in 2011 was a USC freshman tight end season record. He made 2011 All-Pac-12 honorable mention. He made the 2011 CollegeFootballNews.com and Phil Steele Freshman All-American second team.
He had 2 grabs for 19 yards against Minnesota and 2 receptions for 28 yards against Utah. He caught a 44-yard TD. He had a 10-yard catch against Arizona, 2 catches for 12 yards at California and 2 catches for 14 yards at Notre Dame, with a 2-yard TD. He had 5 receptions for 45 yards against Stanford, with a 12-yard TD. At Colorado, he had a 6-yard reception and blocked a field goal. He added 4 catches for 43 yards against Washington, 2 catches for 8 yards (with a 5-yard TD) at Oregon (he also made a tackle) and then he caught 4 passes for 44 yards, with a 1-yard TD, against UCLA.
2010: Telfer redshirted as a freshman tight end in 2010, his first year at USC.
HIGH SCHOOL: His 2009 honors included Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Prep Star Dream Team, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West Best of the Rest, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Max Preps All-State Division I first team, Cal-Hi Sports All-State second team, All-CIF Central Division first team, Riverside Press-Enterprise All-Riverside and All-Baseline League first team as a senior tight end at Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High. He had 45 receptions for 905 yards (20.1 avg.) with 8 TDs in 2009.
As a junior in 2008, he made Cal-Hi Sports All-State Underclass second team, All-CIF Central Division first team, Riverside Press-Enterprise All-Riverside honorable mention, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin All-Inland Valley first team, San Bernardino Sun All-San Bernardino first team and All-Baseline League first team. He had 44 receptions for 678 yards (14.7 avg.) with 5 TDs in 2008 as Rancho Cucamonga won the CIF Central Division title. Current Trojan Chris Hawkins also prepped at Rancho Cucamonga.
PERSONAL: He received his bachelor's degree in political science at USC in the spring of 2014. He was among 4 USC student-athletes to participate in the 2012 NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis, where he pursued the administrative track.
