2002: Poston, who showed marked improvement in 2002 spring practice, will compete for playing time at tailback as a sophomore in 2002. He also might returns kickoffs. 2001: Poston showed flashes of his potential as a freshman reserve tailback in 2001, but he sprained his right knee at Notre Dame and missed the Arizona, Oregon State, California and UCLA games. Overall in 2001, he appeared in 4 games (Oregon, Arizona State, Notre Dame and Utah), running for 16 yards on 8 carries (0.8 avg.) with 1 TD and catching a 10-yard pass. He saw his first career action at Oregon, getting 1 yard on 2 carries. Against Arizona State, he had 3 yards on 2 carries (including a 7-yard TD, the first of his career). He added a 10-yard reception (and 1 carry for no yards) at Notre Dame before hurting his knee. He then returned to action against Utah and ran for 12 yards on 3 carries. HIGH SCHOOL: His 2000 honors included Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-Western Region, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best of the West first team, Las Vegas Sun Super 11 honorable mention, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Cal-Hi Sports All-State second team, All-CIF Division I and Orange County Register All-Orange county second team as a senior at Edison High in Huntington Beach (Calif.). He ran for 1,619 yards on 263 carries (6.2 avg.) with 20 TDs and had 280 receiving yards with 2 scores in 2000. Edison went 10-3 in 2000. As a 1999 junior, he was Orange County Register All-Orange County second team and All-Sunset League Offensive MVP while running for 1,800 yards with 29 TDs and catching 12 passes for 339 yards (28.3 avg.). His career rushing totals of 3,419 yards and 29 TDs set school records. He also sprinted for Edison's track team, finishing fifth in the 100 meters at the 2000 CIF Division I meet. As a senior, he was first in the 200 (in 21.40) at the 2001 CIF Southern Section meet and third in the 200 (in 21.48) at the 2001 CIF Masters Meet (he ran 21.81 in the prelims at the 2001 California State meet, but did not advance to the finals).
