Kalil, Woods, McDonald Are All-American First Teamers

Five Trojans named Freshman All-American first teamers.

2012: After a standout freshman showing in 2011, Heidari returns for his second year as USC's placekicker as a sophomore in 2012.

2011: Heidari, who enrolled at USC in the spring of 2011 after graduating a semester early from high school, stepped in as USC's placekicker as a freshman in 2011 and did an outstanding job. Overall while appearing in all 12 games, he hit 15-of 17 field goals and all 50 of his PAT tries, plus he made 4 tackles. His 88.2% field goal percentage was third in the nation among kickers with at least 10 made field goals (and the best among freshmen kickers). He made 9 consecutive field goals before a miss at Notre Dame and was 4-of-5 on field goals of at least 40 yards in 2011 (with a 50-yarder). Of his 76 kickoffs in 2011, 25 pinned opponents within the 20-yard line (including 10 touchbacks). He was one of 20 semifinalists for the 2011 Groza Award. He made the 2011 CBSSports.com, CollegeFootball News.com and Phil Steele Freshman All-American first team and YahooSports.com Freshman All-American second team. He made 2011 SI.com All-American honorable mention. He made the 2011 All-Pac-12 first team. He made the 2011 ESPN.com, CBSSports.com and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 first team.

He hit his only PAT attempt against Minnesota, then hit a 47-yard field goal (he had another 47-yarder negated by penalty) and both of his PATs against Utah. Against Syracuse, he hit all 5 of his PATs, was 1-of-2 on field goals (he made a 26-yarder) and 3 of his 7 kickoffs pinned the Orange within the 20. At Arizona State, he hit all 3 of his field goals (41, 29 and 33 yards) and his only PAT and he also pinned the Sun Devils within the 20 on 3 of his 6 kickoffs (with 2 touchbacks). Against Arizona, he hit both of his field goal tries (46 and 31 yards) and all 6 of his PATs and also pinned the Wildcats within the 20 on 3 of his 8 kickoffs (with 2 touchbacks). At California, he hit all 3 of his field goals (39, 29 and 23 yards) and all 3 of his PATs and also pinned the Bears twice within the 20 (with a touchback) on his 7 kickoffs. At Notre Dame, he hit all 4 of his PATs, made a 25-yard field goal (he missed a 32-yarder despite kicking with a bruised ankle) and 1 of his 4 kickoffs pinned the Irish within the 20. Against Stanford, he hit both of his field goals (22 and 50 yards, the longest by a Trojan since Quin Rodriguez's 54-yarder against Michigan State in the 1990 Sun Bowl) and all 6 of his PATs, plus 2 of his 7 kickoffs pinned the Cardinal within the 20. At Colorado, he hit all 6 of his PATs and 4 of his 7 kickoffs pinned the Buffaloes within the 20 (with 2 touchbacks). Against Washington, he hit all 5 of his PATs and a 30-yard field goal and 2 of his 7 kickoffs pinned the Huskies within the 20. He hit his only field goal try (a 26-yarder) and all 5 of his PATS, plus 1 of his 7 kickoffs was a touchback and he made a tackle at Oregon. Against UCLA, he hit all 6 of his PATs and 4 of his 8 kickoffs pinned the Bruins within the 20 (with 2 touchbacks).

HIGH SCHOOL: His 2010 honors included UnderArmour All-American, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100 and Cal-Hi Sports All-State third team as a 2010 senior placekicker and punter at Stockdale High in Bakersfield (Calif.). He kicked 8 field goals and 17 PATS, had touchbacks on 53 of his 65 kickoffs and averaged 38.4 yards punting in 2010.

As a 2009 junior, 59 of his 70 kickoffs were touchbacks and 20 of his punts pinned opponents within the 20-yard line (with a long of 63 yards) as he made the All-Southwest Yosemite League second team.
