2001: Cook, who will return to the field in 2001 as a sophomore after an injury knocked him out of the 2000 season, will look to get into the tight end mix.

2000: Cook, a reserve tight end, tore ligaments in his right knee during 2000 spring practice and had surgery, so he was sidelined his entire 2000 redshirt freshman season.

1999: Cook redshirted as a freshman tight end in 1999, his first year at USC.

HIGH SCHOOL: He was named to the 1998 USA Today All-USA honorable mention, Super Prep All-Northwest, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best in the West honorable mention, The Oregonian All-State 4-A first team (as a tight end) and second team (as a linebacker) and All-Metro 4-A League first team (on offense and defense) as a senior at Jesuit High in Portland (Ore.). He missed the last half of his 1998 senior season with a torn knee ligament (he played in just 6 games), but still caught 23 passes for 392 yards (17.0 avg.) and 4 TDs (2 scores went 60-plus yards) on offense and had 3 interceptions on defense as an outside linebacker. Jesuit went 12-1 and was a state 4-A semifinalist.

He was an All-State honorable mention and All-Metro 4-A League first team (on offense and defense) selection as a 1997 junior as he had 26 receptions for 362 yards (13.9 avg.) with 2 TDs and saw limited time as a sophomore in 1996 because of a broken finger.

He also participated in track (with bests of 21-1 in the long jump, 43-0 in the triple jump and 49-0 in the shot put) at Jesuit.

PERSONAL: He’s a business major at USC with a B average (3.00 GPA). He likes to golf.
