    2002:
    Butler began his 2002 senior season as a backup tight end, but was moved to defensive end early in the season. He saw action there as a backup and on special teams in 11 games (all but Auburn and California). Overall in 2002, he had 5 tackles, including 2.5 sacks for 13 yards.

    2001:
    Butler was a reserve tight end and played on special teams as a junior in 2001. He did not make a catch or tackle while appearing in 11 games (all but Kansas State).

    2000:
    Butler, who transferred to USC in the fall of 2000 from a junior college, appeared in 10 games (all but the Colorado and Oregon State contests) as a reserve tight end as a sophomore in 2000. Overall in 2000, he caught 4 passes for 52 yards (13.0 avg.). He had 3 grabs for 46 yards against Arizona State (his other receptions was a 6-yarder against Washington State). He also returned 2 kickoffs (both against Washington State) for 16 yards (8.0 average) as an up-man.

    JUNIOR COLLEGE:
    He was a 1999 Super Prep JUCO 100 selection as a redshirt freshman tight end at Mesa (Ariz.) Community College.

    PURDUE:
    He spent the 1998 season redshirting as a freshman at Purdue before transferring to Mesa.

    HIGH SCHOOL:
    He earned 1997 Super Prep All-Farwest, All-State, All-City and All-League honors as a senior at Sabino High in Tucson (Ariz.). He caught 26 passes for 745 yards (28.7 avg) with 13 TDs as a senior tight end and also played linebacker. Sabino was 13-1 and the state finalists in 1997. As a junior in 1996, he was All-City and All-League while catching 11 passes for 341 yards (31.0 avg) and 5 TDs on offense and making 150 tackles with an interception on defense. Sabino went 78-7-1 in his 4 years.
