<2013: Bowman will compete for playing time at safety as a senior in 2013. 2012: Bowman, who transferred to USC in the fall of 2012 from a junior college, served as a backup safety and played on special teams in 2012. Overall in 2012 while appearing in all 13 games, he had 11 tackles and an interception for 19 yards (19.0 avg.). He had 4 tackles against Colorado with the interception, 2 tackles against Hawaii and Georgia Tech and 1 stop each against Washington, Oregon and Arizona State. JUNIOR COLLEGE: His 2011 honors included Super Prep JUCO 100, JC Athletic Bureau All-State Region VI first team Defensive Player of the Year and All-Pacific Conference first team Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore safety at Los Angeles Pierce Junior College in Woodland Hills (Calif.). He had 52 tackles, including 4 for losses (with a sack), plus an interception, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and 7 punt returns in 2011. He earned JC Athletic Bureau All-State All-Region VI first team and All-Pacific Conference first team honors as a freshman in 2010 while making 58 tackles (6 for losses, with a sack), an interception and 2 deflections. Current Trojan Kevin Downey Jr. also prepped at Pierce. He did not attend school in 2008-09 or 2009-10. HIGH SCHOOL: He prepped at Imhotep High in Philadelphia (Pa.), earning Philadelphia Daily News All-City second team honors as a 2007 senior running back and safety. He had 1,659 yards on 254 carries (6.5 avg.) with 8 TDs, plus 18 receptions for 220 yards (12.2 avg.) in 2007. As a junior in 2006, he had 437 yards on 79 carries (5.5 avg.) with 6 TDs, 14 receptions for 185 yards (13.2 avg.) and completed 10-of-19 passes (52.6%) for 267 yards with 3 TDs and 1 interception on offense and 31 tackles, 3 interceptions, 4 deflections and 2 forced fumbles on defense (he also returned 5 punts and a kickoff). As a 2005 sophomore, he had 259 yards on 65 carries (4.0 avg.) with 2 TDs, 5 receptions for 34 yards (6.8 avg.) with 1 TD, 21 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 deflection, 1 fumble recovery, 2 forced fumbles and 1 blocked kick. PERSONAL: His cousin, Maalik Wayns, is a senior guard on Villanova's basketball team. |
