    Jupiter And Moore Named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes Of The Week

    Alex Jupiter of the women's volleyball team and Alexis Moore of the men's basketball team were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week today (Dec. 19) for the week of Dec. 12-18.

    Women's Volleyball: Alex Jupiter: USC outside hitter Alex Jupiter was named 2011 AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) National Player of the Year at the annual All-American banquet in San Antonio. Jupiter becomes the first player in USC women's volleyball history to be named AVCA National Player of the Year. Jupiter finished the season with 514 kills (4.47 kps) and a .265 hitting percentage. She had 13 assists (0.11 aps), 57 service aces (0.50 saps), 360 digs (3.13 dps), 63 blocks (0.55 bps) and 619.5 points (5.39 pps). She helped USC finish with a 29-5 overall mark and back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances, the first time USC had accomplished that since 2004. Jupiter was named 2011 AVCA All-America first team and Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year and is the first three-time All-American at USC since Bibiana Candelas in 2005 and first two-time first team All-American since Emily Adams in 2004. She now holds three USC career records for kills (1,918), points (2,255.5) and attempts (4,759). She is now tied for third place on USC's all-time list for career solo blocks (123) and 10th for career digs (1,094). Her final match as a Trojan came in USC's five-set loss to No. 3 seed Illinois in the NCAA national semifinal. Jupiter posted 32 kills, 12 digs and two blocks.

    Men's Basketball: Alexis Moore: Freshman guard Alexis Moore scored a career-high 18 points while shooting 4-for-7 from three-point range in the Trojans 63-59 loss to Georgia on Saturday.
