USC To Host Loyola Marymount At Galen Wednesday|

The USC Trojans (4-3) will host the Loyola Marymount Lions (3-3) at the Galen Center on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. The game will air on the the Pac-12 Network and be carried on 690 AM. USC is 2-1 at home this season and will play its next three games at Galen.
BREAKING DOWN LMU -- The Lions (3-3) are coming off an 80-72 home loss to Big West favorite UC Irvine on Nov. 29. LMU fell 68-44 at Arizona State in its only other road contest this season. Tonight the Lions are beginning a stretch of six games away from home (3 road games, 3 neutral site games). Sophomore guard Evan Payne is one of the top scorers in the country with an average of 21.7 points per game this season. USC owns a 41-6 all-time record against LMU, but lost the last meeting, 67-59 on Nov. 21, 2009.
SOMETIMES A PIT STOP IS WHAT IS NEEDED -- Despite playing in one of the toughest venues in America for a road team called "The Pit," the young Trojans grabbed the lead early and led most of the way in a 66-54 win at New Mexico on Nov. 30. USC jumped out to a 9-2 lead and led or was tied in the game for all but 51 seconds. Forwards Nikola Jovanovic (10 points/career-high 16 rebounds) and Darion Clark (12 points/11 rebounds) both posted their second consecutive double-doubles. Jovanovic scored five points in a key 9-1 run that broke a 47-47 wth 7:30 to go in the game. Katin Reinhardt covered UNM's top scorer Hugh Greenwood and held him to 0-for-11 shooting. Both teams struggled with their shooting as USC made 38.3 percent and UNM 32.7 percent from the floor.
INSIDE THE WIN AT NEW MEXICO -- USC improved to 4-13 in the last seven seasons in non-conference road games. New Mexico had a nine-game home winning streak snapped and it tied for its worst home loss since falling 74-62 to No. 14 UNLV on Jan. 9, 2010. The Lobos are 107-14 in home games in the last eight seasons.
AGGIES ON DECK -- USC will host Utah State (3-3) at the Galen Center on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. The Aggies lost 91-81 at home vs. BYU on Dec. 2 and have lost their last three games. USU has four players averaging in double figures, led by sophomore forward Jalen Moore at 14.7 ppg. The Aggies have averaged nearly eight three-pointers made per game. USC lost its 2013-14 season opener 78-65 at Utah State, but leads the all-time series 6-5.
SUDDEN IMPACT -- Freshman Jordan McLaughlin leads USC with a scoring average of 11.0 points in the first seven games. He also leads USC in assists (37) and steals (12) and is second on the team in free throws attempted (33) and three-pointers made (7). USC's freshman class of McLaughlin, Malik Martin, Elijah Stewart and Malik Marquetti has scored 34.2 percent of the Trojans' points this season (149 of 436). When you add in redshirt sophomores Katin Reinhardt and Darion Clark who are playing their first season for the Trojans, 64.0 percent (279 of 436) of USC's points are from newcomers.
THE DEFENSE NEVER RESTS -- USC has held five of seven opponents this season to 40 percent shooting or less, for a combined 38.4 shooting percentage. Last season, USC's opponents had a combined field goal percentage of 43.0 percent.
MORE DOUBLE-DOUBLES THAN IN-N-OUT -- USC did not have a player register a double-double in the first four games, but has had five in the last three games. First, Strahinja Gavrilovic posted career highs with 13 points and 10 rebounds vs. Penn State on Nov. 23, then Darion Clark had a career-high 14 rebounds and 10 points and Nikola Jovanovic had a then career-high 11 rebounds and 13 points vs. Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 25. It was the first career double-doubles for Clark and Gavrilovic and the second for Jovanovic. Then, Jovanovic had a career-high 16 rebounds and 10 points and Clark 12 points and 11 rebounds at New Mexico on Nov. 30.
ANY DAY, ANY TIME -- USC is playing its first game on a Wednesday this season and will have played on every day of the week in the first eight games. USC has also played games that have started at seven different times in the first eight games, and in three different time zones.
TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF -- USC has averaged 11.0 turnovers the past four games (44 total), after averaging 18.7 in the first three games of the season (56 total).
