    Oct. 17, 2012

The USC men's basketball team, which began practice for the 2012-13 season on Oct. 12, will provide Trojan fans with two preseason opportunities to get an upclose glimpse of the new and exciting team. First, the men's team will open up practice this Saturday (Oct. 20) at the Galen Center from 12:15-3 p.m. for all fans to stop by and check out the team on the way to the football game. Then, on October 28, the USC men's and women's teams will be hosting a Salute to Troy and Fanfest at the Galen Center followed by intrasquad scrimmages and team introductions.

The Salute To Troy on October 28 will begin at noon in the Centofante Hall of Fame room at the Galen Center featuring games, prizes, posters and giveaways, followed by men's and women's team intrasquad scrimmages at 1 p.m. on the Galen Center court. There will also be special appearances by the Trojan Dance Force, Song Girls and Spirit of Troy and the players will be available for autographs following the scrimmages. All fans are welcome to the free event which is scheduled to run from 1-3 p.m.

Parking will be available at Gate 3 and Parking Structure 2 for the event for $10 per car. The concession stands will also be open for the Salute to Troy event. For more information, fans can call (213) 740-4170.

The 2012-13 USC men's team has a deep roster of talented players and looks to push the tempo and provide Trojan fans with an exciting brand of basketball. Senior point guard and team captain Jio Fontan has returned to health and is joined on the team by top-returning starters Dewayne Dedmon, Aaron Fuller and Byron Wesley, as well as a very strong group of experienced transfers which include J.T. Terrell, Ari Stewart, Eric Wise and Renaldo Woolridge. The Trojans open the season at home vs. Coppin State on Nov. 9.

The USC women's roster boasts five high school All-Americans and in a distinct change from last year's busy road schedule, the Women of Troy don't leave the state of California until Pac-12 play begins so fans will have a great chance to get to see them in action, beginning with the opener on Nov. 11 vs. Gonzaga. Leading the charge once again is head coach and former "Showtime" Laker Michael Cooper. USC's top returning scorers are junior Cassie Harberts and senior Christina Marinacci.
