    USC Defeats Vedano Olona All-Stars 90-76 In Scrimmage

    USC closed out the second day of its tour of Italy with a 90-76 win against the U20 Vedano Olona All-Stars in Vedano Olona, Italy tonight (Aug. 14.) Seven different Trojans scored in double-figures, led by freshman Bennie Boatwright's 18.

    "It was a nice way today to start our trip," said USC head coach Andy Enfield. "We had an enjoyable day of sightseeing and then an exciting exhibition scrimmage tonight."

    USC made 57.8 percent of its shots for the game, while holding the VO All-Stars to 42.3 percent. The Trojans hit 7 of 13 three-point attempts after the break (53.8 percent) and shot 64.5 percent from the field after halftime.

    USC trailed 19-15 after the first quarter, but used an 18-5 spurt to start the second quarter to take the lead for good. The Trojans led 40-30 at halftime and were in control the whole second half. Also scoring in double figures for USC were Nikola Jovanovic (13), Chimezie Metu (12), Katin Reinhardt (11), Julian Jacobs (11), Malik Marquetti (11) and Elijah Stewart (10).

    The day began with a two-hour cruise meandering from port to port along Lake Como until arriving in Bellagio. The team then had a chance to explore the quaint city with its unique shops and history, which included St. James church, built in the 11th century. After a chance for a quick lunch, the team hopped on a ferry to cross Lake Como and then bused back along the lake.

     

     

    USC began its trip on Aug. 12 in Los Angeles at the Galen Center and traveled 20.5 hours before arriving at the Sheraton in Lake Como, Italy at 6:30 p.m. (9 hour time difference). Beginning with the bus ride to LAX, the Trojans had two bus rides, four shuttle rides and two flights before settling in at Lake Como.

    After the team arrived at beautiful Lake Como, they were greeted with a welcome dinner which featured among other delicacies beef, sausage, chicken, pizza, pasta, potatoes, roasted vegetables and if you stayed long enough, a dessert of baked pineapple with cinnamon.

    The Trojans tomorrow will travel to Milan and then to Venice, Italy where they will spend the next two days.
