    Seniors Fontan And Wise Named Pac-12 Honorable Mention

    USC seniors Jio Fontan and Eric Wise were named honorable mention on the 2013 All-Pac-12 Team it was announced today (March 11) by Commissioner Larry Scott.

    Fontan averaged 9.5 points and 5.2 assists and started all 31 games for USC. He ranks second among Pac-12 players in assists per game and his 161 assists this season currently ranks tied for seventh on USC's all-time single-season list. Fontan has bounced back nicely from the ACL surgery which caused him to miss the entire 2011-12 season and he leads the team in minutes played (1,015), assists and free throws made (78), is second on the team in three-point baskets (31) and is third in steals (27).

    Fontan passed the 1,000-point scoring mark this season when he poured in 16 at California on Feb. 17. Fontan matched a career-high with 11 assists vs. Washington State on Feb. 7 and had had four games this season with at least nine assist. He also matched a career high in points when he scored 25 at Arizona State on Jan. 24. In that game he hit five three-pointers, the last one with 0.4 seconds left sent the game into overtime.

    Wise has led USC with an 11.9 scoring average and ranks second on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game. He and Fontan are the only two players to start every game this season for USC. Wise has ranked among USC's leaders in most offensive categories all season. Among USC players, he ranks first in field goals made (142) and points (370), second in steals (30) and rebounds (174), third in free throws made (66), assists (53) and blocks (10). He had three double-doubles this season, the last time with 12 points and 11 rebounds at UCLA on Jan. 20. He has scored in double figures in 22 of the 31 games, including a season-high 22 vs. Arizona on Feb. 27 on 9-for-12 shooting (75.0 percent).

    USC will begin play in the Pac-12 Conference Tournament on March 13 at 6 p.m. at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
