    BREAKDOWN: Byron Wesley is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound sophomore guard who had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Trojans. He continued to improve throughout the season, registering his best games in the second half of the season

    2011-12: Started all 32 games as a freshman averaging 9.6 points and 5.1 rebounds while averaging 34.6 minutes per game. Led USC in total rebounds with 163. Wesley was one of two Trojans to start every game and he led all Pac-12 freshmen in minutes played. In Pac-12 play, Wesley was even better, averaging 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds. Over the final 13 games of the season, Wesley averaged 13.9 points and reached double figures in scoring 11 times. Was second for the Trojans in assists (56) and steals (26). Wesley ranked among USC's freshman all-time top 10 in field goals (130, 10th), field goals attempted (318, 7th) and rebounds (163, 8th). Started and played 33 minutes, scoring five points with eight rebounds and three assists in the opener vs. CSUN on Nov. 11. Led USC with five rebounds and tied for team high in points with 16 (8-for-10 from the field) vs. UNLV on Nov. 25. Had six points and eight rebounds on Dec. 17 vs. Georgia; 13 points, four rebounds and a career-best six assists vs. TCU on Dec. 19. Had a career-high nine rebounds and scored two points vs. Kansas on Dec. 22. Added seven rebounds and five points at Cal on Dec. 29. Scored 15 at OSU on Jan. 21 and 12 vs. Colorado on Jan. 26. Had nine points and season-best seven assists on Jan. 28 vs. Utah. Had 12 points and a team-leading five rebounds at Washington on Feb. 4; Had 11 points and six rebounds vs. Cal on Feb. 9. Scored 13 points vs. Stanford on Feb. 12; Matched a then career high with 16 points at UCLA on Feb. 15...also had seven rebounds. Scored a career-high 18 points at Arizona on Feb. 23, then bettered that with 22 at ASU on Feb. 25...8-for-14 in both games. Made it three straight games with a career high by netting 23 points vs. Washington on March 1.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Wesley was ranked as the No. 1 high school player in the state of California by Cali High Sports and received a 91 out of 100 on the ESPN scouts grade. Wesley averaged 19.2 points as a senior and was also named to the first team Best In the West squad by the Long Beach Press-Telegram and was named Baseline Conference MVP for the second consecutive season. Etiwanda went 29-4 and lost to Long Beach Poly in the round of 16 in the California State Championships. Wesley scored in double figures in all but one game and had a season-best 30 points in a 70-64 loss vs. Loyola on Jan. 29. He scored 24 or more points nine times during the season. He averaged 18.8 points as a junior for Etiwanda, scoring 25 or more points 10 times in leading the Eagles to narrow losses to Mater Dei in the CIF Southern Section 1-AA finals and to Long Beach Poly in the State Southern Regional quarterfinals. He scored in double-figures in 28 of 34 games, including the final 16. Etiwanda finished the season 24-10. Played as a freshman and sophomore at Cajon HS in Cajon, Calif.
