    BREAKDOWN: J.T. Terrell is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior guard who played last season at Peninsula JC in Washington and in 2010-11 at Wake Forest. The ultra-quick shooting guard is a proven scorer with the ability to light it up from the outside or create his own shot. He is expected to have an immediate impact on the program. Terrell was rated as the No. 1 junior college player in America by Swannys Roundball Review.

    2011-12: Attended Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Wash. Helped lead the Pirates to the Final Four at the NWAACC Basketball Championship Tournament and a 25-6 record. Led Peninsula in scoring with 24.4 points per game. He made 47 percent of his field goal attempts, 38 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the charity stripe. He scored 30 or more points 12 times, including a season-high of 38 vs. Highline on Dec. 3 when he hit a late three-pointer for the lead and then iced it with two free throws. He had 10 games with at least four three-pointers made, including a best of 6 vs. SW Oregon on Dec. 16 and vs. Skagit Valley on Feb. 4.

    2010-11: Terrell averaged 11.1 points per game during the 2010-11 season at Wake Forest, second on the team and fifth among ACC freshmen. He was also second on the team in assists with 51. Terrell played in all 32 games for Wake Forest and made 18 starts, while recording 16 double-figure scoring games. He made a splash in his collegiate debut by scoring 26 points vs. Stetson on Nov. 12, 2010, setting the Wake Forest freshman record for points in a first game. He had a season-best 32 points vs. Iowa on Nov. 30, 2010, making seven three-pointers, including the game-winner with two seconds left in the game. His seven three-pointers made tied a Wake Forest freshman record. He made 35.7 percent from beyond the arc (50-for-140) and his 50 three-point baskets are the fourth-most ever by a WF freshman.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Terrell was one of the top high school scorers in the country as a senior at West Charlotte High, averaging 30 points per game. He was ranked the No. 49 prospect overall by ESPN.com. Terrell was a two-time All-State selection and led West Charlotte to a 22-10 record and the 4A Finals as a senior. Played his first three seasons at Cummings High. As a junior he scored 31 points and grabbed six rebounds per game to lead Cummings to a 21-7 record and a conference championship before they fell in the 2-A semifinals. Terrell helped lead Cummings to the 2-A state title as a freshman.

    PERSONAL: Terrell was born on November 24, 1991. He is the son of Anita Curry and James Terrell III. He has three brothers (Demarice, Jaylon and Jaydon) and two sisters (Angelica and Jayla). His father James lettered two years in basketball at UNC Charlotte (1991-92). Last name is pronounced Tuh-RELL.
