    BREAKDOWN: Joel "J.J." Meyers, Jr., 6-foot-2, 175-pound senior guard, will add to the Trojans depth in the backcourt. He begins his second season at USC after attending Loyola Marymount from 2006-08.

    2008-09: Transferred to USC from Loyola Marymount, but did not get in a game during his first season as a Trojan. Had a rebound and an assist in the Cardinal & Gold Scrimmage on Oct. 26.

    2007-08: Attended LMU, but did not play on the basketball team.

    2006-07: Suited up for LMU as a freshman, but did not see any action.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Meyers attended Campbell Hall High in North Hollywood where he graduated in 2006. He played guard for Campbell Hall for three seasons and was a member of the 2005 Division IV State Championship team which defeated Berkeley, 74-53, at Arco Arena in Sacramento. His team went a perfect 32-0 to capture the state title. He made 50 percent of his shots as a junior and was fourth on his team in scoring as a senior, averaging 12.0 points, six rebounds, assists and two steals. He was All-Olympic League and led the conference is steals and charges. Meyers was also named second-team All-CIF and to the All-Academic team. Had a career-best game of 25 points during his senior season.

    PERSONAL: Meyers was born on Jan. 8, 1988 in Los Angeles, Calif. Likes listening to music, playing volleyball, going to the beach and playing video games. His favorite foods are sushi and lobster. Would like some day to attend a World Cup soccer match and to travel to Spain, Australia and Italy. Lists his biggest sports thrills as winning the state championship at Campbell Hall and watching Kobe Bryant score 81 points against the Raptors. Says Kobe Bryant is his biggest sports hero because he is the most focused athlete he has ever seen. J.J.'s father, Joel, is the television play-by-play announcer for the Lakers and a longtime national sports broadcaster. J.J. is a history major at USC and would like to become a sports agent or attorney. Lists his greatest achievement outside of sports as working with battered women and children.
