BREAKDOWN: Daniel Munoz, 5-foot-10, 175-pound redshirt junior guard is in his fourth season on the USC basketball team. He is coming off his finest season and adds to the Trojans' depth at the guard position. He has been the consummate team player, ready to step in at any time.
2011-12: Munoz played in a career-high 12 games, including one start, scoring five points, dishing out eight assists and grabbing six rebounds. After spending most of the first two and a half seasons of his Trojan career on the bench, Munoz was called into action on Jan. 19 at Oregon and provided solid results in a career-high 27 minutes. It was his first game of the season and his minutes, shots (0-for-3), points (2) and rebounds (3) were all career highs. He had played in a total of three games and hadn't taken a shot in his career prior to the Oregon game. Two days later he earned a start at Oregon State on Jan. 21. He played 12 minutes in that game and went 1-for-2 from three-point range for his first field goal of his career, while handing out two assists. Ended up playing in 10 of the Trojans final 12 games of the season.
2010-11: Munoz appeared in his first three games as a Trojan, playing five minutes total. Made his first appearance on the court vs. New Mexico State on Nov. 21. Played two minutes vs. CS Fullerton on Nov. 24 and vs. Stanford on Jan. 20. Had a foul vs. CS Fullerton, his only mark on the stat sheet in his career.
2009-10: Munoz did not appear in a game for the Trojans as a freshman. Played two minutes but did not take a shot for the winning Gold team in the annual Cardinal & Gold exhibition game held on Oct. 25
HIGH SCHOOL: Munoz averaged 16.8 points and 2.5 assists his senior season at Santa Margarita HS in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He helped lead this school to the CIF Finals and to a 22-9 record. As a junior, Munoz averaged 5.0 points and one assist as Santa Margarita captured the California state championship.
PERSONAL: Munoz was born on Dec. 24, 1990 in Orange, Calif. He is undecided on a major at USC.
