    BREAKDOWN: Zach Banner is a 6-foot-9, 335-pound freshman forward who adds toughness, rebounding and the ability to score in the paint. He is an offensive lineman on the USC football team and will join the basketball team following the football season.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Banner averaged 18.6 points and 17.3 rebounds as a senior at Lakes HS. His team just missed out on advancing to states when they lost to Lincoln HS, but Banner scored 34 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in the game. He helped lead Lakes HS to a 24-3 record and the Washington state 3A title as a junior in 2011. In their 5-game run to the state title, Banner averaged 9.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. In the title game vs. Bellevue, Banner scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the 71-56 victory. He also starred for the football team as an offensive lineman. His 2011 honors included USA Today All-USA first team, Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, All-American first team, Max Preps All-American second team, Max Preps All-American Medium Schools first team, Prep Star Top 150 Dream Team, ESPNU 150, Super Prep All-Farwest, Prep Star All-West, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Seattle Times All-State, Orange County Register Fab 15 first team, Tacoma News Tribune Northwest Nuggets and Tacoma News Tribune All-Area first team as a senior offensive lineman at Lakes High in Lakewood (Wash.)...He was a finalist for the 2012 Watkins Award, given to the nation's top African-American high school scholar-athlete...As a junior in 2010, he made USA Today All-USA first team, Max Preps All-American second team, Max Preps All-American Medium Schools first team, Max Preps Junior All-American first team and All-State 3-A first team..

    PERSONAL: Zach was born on December 25, 1993 in Tacoma, Wash. He was the Lakes HS class president since his freshman year and had a 3.6 grade point average, with a 4.0 in his final semester. He wears a size 18 shoe.
