LOS ANGELES, Calif. - USC baseball welcomes the 2012 recruiting class, ranked No. 24 in the nation according to Collegiate Baseball to Troy for the 2013 season.

The highly decorated class is comprised of seven pitchers, 11 position players and one two-way player. Two players in the class were drafted in the June 2012 MLB First Year Players Draft. Left-handed pitcher Kyle Twomey (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS), a third round pick of the Oakland Athletics and outfielder Timmy Robinson (Westminster, Calif./Ocean View HS) was selected in the 31st round by the Minnesota Twins.

On the recruiting class, head coach Frank Cruz said, "I think this year we were able to get quality recruits late to replace some of the guys that signed after getting drafted. We are really excited about that. We got a great group of guys that are proven winners and have been champions at different levels."

Robinson, infielder/pitcher Kyle Davis (Garden Grove, Calif. (Pacifica HS) and outfielder Turner Clouse(Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS), three members of the incoming class, are fresh off the 2012 Connie Mack World Series title that they won this past summer with the So Cal Renegades. Robinson racked up the accolades in the tournament, as he was named the Lincoln Hackim MVP, Joseph R. Cooper Individual Batting Champ, the Big Stick winner and was an All-Tournament Team selection.

The class also brings the Trojans collegiate-level experience in University of Pennsylvania transfer outfielder Greg Zebrack (Northridge, Calif./UPenn/Campbell Hall) and Fresno City College left-handed pitcher Sean Silva (Fresno, Calif./Fresno City College/Clovis West HS). A redshirt senior, Zebrack is a two-time Ivy League first team selection and led the Ivy League in virtually every offensive category in 2012. Silva comes to Troy as a junior, fresh off the 2012 season where he earned All-Central Valley Junior College Conference first team honors.

"Zebrack has been an all-league player at the Division I level and what he brings to the team on and off the field is very valuable," Cruz stated. "His maturity and leadership abilities are second to none. We are very fortunate to have him come back and go to graduate school, just as Andrew Triggs did for us last year."

Cruz added, "It is time for recruiting classes to go beyond the hype and the rankings and show what they are made of out on the field. I really think this group of guys is up to the task."
