Flores and Silva Earn Postseason Summer Ball Honors|

LOS ANGELES- Two more Trojan baseball players have earned First Team All-League titles for their performances during summer ball. Dante Flores earned First Team All-Cape Cod Baseball League while playing for the Chatham Anglers, and Sean Silva earned First Team All-West Coast Baseball League during his time competing with the Walla Walla Sweets. Both Flores and Silva were also All-Stars in their respective All-Star games.
Flores (Norwalk, Calif./St. John Bosco), a rising junior, returned for his second season with the Anglers this summer. He led the team in hitting with a .317 average, while playing in 39 of the team's 44 games. His hitting percentage was 10th best in the entire Cape Cod League. Flores was also third in the league with 13 doubles. The Anglers won the Eastern Division League Title and finished with a record of 26-17.
Rising senior, Silva (Fresno, Calif./Fresno City College) appeared in 12 games for the Sweets. He had 29 strikeouts and 22 walks in his 44.1 innings played with a 4-0 record. Silva finished with a 2.64 ERA. The Sweets won their first North League Division Title and finished the season with a 31-22 record.
Both Flores and Silva will make an impact with the Trojans in the 2014 season. Flores, who was out with an injury most of the season, made 24 starts and finished the season batting .256 with one home run. Silva started in three of his four appearances last season. Silva tallied seven strikeouts in 13 innings of work. He was also one of the first combined one-hitters since 1996.
