Four Trojans Earn Summer Ball All-Star Team Nods

    LOS ANGELES - Four current Trojans earned nods to their respective summer ball league all-star squads. Pitchers Sean Silva and Marc Huberman were recently selected as West Coast League All-Stars, while outfielder Vahn Bozoian and catcher Garrett Stubbsearned New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star nods.

    The West Coast League All-Star Game, which pits the North and South Division squads against each other will be played on Tuesday, July 23 at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, Canada at 7 p.m. Players were picked for the all-star teams from a combination of fan voting, recommendations from Major League scouts and voting by the league's coaches.     Silva (Fresno, Calif./Fresno City College) was named to the North Division All-Star squad from the division's first place Walla Walla Sweets. The senior lefty has appeared in seven games, making four starts. Through 25.0 innings pitched he has struck out 15 and boasts a 2.88 ERA. So far on the season he is 3-0.

    Huberman (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton HS) leads the Bellingham Bells' pitching staff in appearances with 14. The reliever has struck out an impressive 22 batters in just 16.1 inning of work. He has an ERA of 1.10, and is 2-2 with a team-leading four saves on the season. The Bells are 18-15 in the North Division and just a game back from the Sweets.

    The 20th NECBL All-Star Game will be held on Sunday, July 21 at the home of the Laconia Muskrats, Robbie Mills Field. Events will begin at 1:25 p.m. ET, with the fastest runner competition, the home run derby at 2 p.m. ET and first pitch of the All-Star Game set for 5:30 p.m. ET.     Bozoian (Chino Hills, Calif./Ayala HS) is one of six outfielders selected to the NECBL West All-Star Team. The rising sophomore is also set to represent the Holyoke Blue Sox in the home run derby. Bozoian is batting .274 through 27 games in the summer, tallying 13 RBI, six doubles and a team-leading two home runs.

    Stubbs (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) is one of three catchers chosen for the NECBL East All-Star Team. He is batting .267 through 20 games played for the Plymouth Pilgrims. The rising junior has driven in four runs and has three doubles.
