    La Bruna and Huberman Earn Summer Ball All-Star Nods

    LOS ANGELES - Infielder Angelo La Bruna and relief pitcher Marc Huberman were recently named New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Stars.

    La Bruna (La Canada, Calif./Loyola HS), a transfer from Duke, earned the all-star nod as a second baseman for the Northern Division as he competes for the Valley Blue Sox. This summer, La Bruna is hitting .33 through 23 games played. He has collected 23 hits in 69 at-bats, with a team-leading seven doubles and one home run. He has driven in eight runs, good for third-best on the squad. He has also drawn a team-high 10 walks. So far on the season the Blue Sox are 8-19 overall.

    Huberman (Los Angeles, Calif./Hamilton HS), is a member of the South Division All-Star Team as he competes for the Newport Gulls. The lefty reliever has appeared in a team-high 13 games out of the pen. He has thrown 20.1 innings, allowing just four runs, while striking out an impressive 20 batters. Huberman boasts a 3-0 record and one save, with a 1.77 ERA. The Gulls are 16-10 on the year, good for second place in the Southern Division.

    The 21st NECBL All-Star Game will be held Sunday, July 20, at MacKenzie Stadium, the home of the Valley Blue Sox, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Gates open at 12 p.m. ET, and the afternoon begins with the league's annual All-Star Game Skills Competition; first, the league's top outfield arms will test their cannons in the Outfield Throwing Accuracy Contest, followed by the 60-Yard Dash.

    Just after 2 p.m. ET, the league's top sluggers will tee off against the spacious dimensions of MacKenzie Stadium in the annual Home Run Derby before the skills competitions conclude with an awards ceremony at approximately 3:15 p.m. ET. First pitch of the main event is schedule for approximately 5:05 p.m. ET.
