    Oppenheim Earns ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region Honors

    LOS ANGELES - USC senior designated hitter David Oppenheim earned 2016 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I West All-Region Second Team honors, it was announced today.

    Oppenheim, who earned Baseball America Third Team All-America honors, along with the Pac-12 Batting Title and First Team All-Pac-12 honors, earns his first career all-region selection. The Mercer Island, Wash., native hit an impressive .387 batting average over 53 games played. He drove in 25 runs, recorded 74 total hits, tallied nine double and four home runs, mostly hitting out of the two hole. He became the first Trojan to win a Pac-12 batting title since Geoff Jenkins in 1995 and just the fourth overall.

    The senior was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 18th Round of the MLB First Team Player Draft this past Saturday.
