June 10, 2015
LOS ANGELES - USC senior infielder Angelo La Bruna was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 33rd round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft.
La Bruna (La Canada, Calif./Duke) is the 11th Trojan to be drafted all-time by the Nationals/Expos. The last was pitcher Tommy Milone, who was taken in the 10th round of the 2008 draft.
La Bruna, a transfer from Duke University, played one season for the Trojans. The redshirt junior started 22 games at shortstop and appeared in 39 games in 2015, batting .250 with nine RBI. A slick fielder, La Bruna only made six errors all season and tallied 46 putouts.
Also an outstanding student, La Bruna earned Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team honors as a political science major.
La Bruna is the eighth and final Trojan taken in the 2015 draft. The eight selections are the most in one draft in the program since 1999. Overall the Trojans have had 316 players drafted since the draft's inception in 1965.
